Continuing on......

Some pics of the front bumper...what were using 1/4" thick flatbar double side welded for strength and durability....  (Just (1) of the reasons that sets our welder/fabricator apart from some of the others)

getting primed and preparing to go to Line-X
Oh wait we have some other items that need to go too ...well load them all and make 1 trip...  In the mean time their is still plenty to do.... designing the bed...
 Measuring............
AND MEASURING......
ANd MORE MEASURING....While their is a truck bed kit available to purchase that is ver similiar to this... our customer wanted something a little different/  he intends to utilize his truck in his job... and the places he has to go... he needs something a little more durable and to withstand the abuse it will likely see....
ALOT (and i mean aLOT of measuring was involved in this project.... NONE of the design was in a book..  everything was custom measured, custom made, and custom created ......right here.... In West Virginia... by S & S Custom 4x4 Trucks... by one of the most qualified and skilled welders/fabricators around... Scott, Scott has extensive welding and fabricating certification and spent most of his time pipe welding in chemical plants and mining sites, he's highly skilled and to be honest for the time and dedication he puts in these projects...  He could easily work anywhere (in the plants locally) or some place out of state... But HE LOVES what he does here... and that's CUSTOM CREATE... and FABRICATE!!!!!!

    back from line-X
Marine grade lights will be added as well as (1) of the warn winches.... and (2) clevisis
fitting it up............
the ALMOST finished project.... lights need installed and the winch needs installed.....
while jon prepares for the lift installation, scott starts on the bed.... and me, well Our customer WAS going to bring us the job box he wanted... Buit since he was having trouble finding what he was looking for... that's my new contribution to the project as well as locating a small metal tool box..not to large.. not to small... My quest begins....
More to follow on the build later.......

Tires and parts arrive/or have already been here for a few days:
Jon begins to install the lift

And scott gets
prepared to start fabbing the bed.......

We used the little trailer we fabricated last year to hold the bed while we worked ...made an ExcELLENT work table and was portable....  YEAH
tacking it all in place.....
Again bed also made w/1/4" thick plate and 1.25" inch pipe for the roll bar--- NO NOT Tubing... pipe..

Takin a breather....
Coming together....
Another break........
Added the tire carrier..... and the hidden door....
AND THE HIDDEN DOOR.....
STAY TUNED FOR MORE PICS... HAVE ALOT MORE DONE TO THIS THING...  JUST NEED TO ADD SOME PICS....

Quite a chore...  But nothing that we @ S & S Custom 4x4 Trucks can't handle...

The Build is suppost to look similiar (but not exactly like this)

And this is what the 94 Toyota Pick-up looked like Before we started:

First comes the chore of ordering parts... So while were waiting... naturally we work on other stuff..lifting trucks... doin' what we do.. also trying to develop an idea of exactly what our customer was looking for, offroad ready...street  legal... and practical for the job in which he works...

First thing we did was remove the bed (since only the cab was to be painted) and began getting estimates from the paint shops- since we do not do in-house  painting ourselves...

After 2 days of calling and after getting the paint shops to come and give us an estimates keeping our customers budget in mind...we called our customer gave him the estimates & he elected to have it painted @ Macco which would include new fenders and some minor body work to remove some small surface rust...

Loading the truck and preparing it for the paint shop..

2 days later returns from the paint shop and most of the parts are here:

The paint job:

Now to get started on some of the custom fab, while jon installs the lift and accesses any other problems...

thinkin bout what needs done

after measuring and predesign testin part of it..... oh did i forget to mention that all these custom fab items also needed to be Line-x'd?
